J.D. Otto (9/1/2010 12:43 AM) - Had the beef ribs plate tonight with the jalapeño beans and sweet potato fries. The fries were a little salty to me (I normally have a low sodium diet), but the beans and ribs were incredible. The draft beer selection was quite impressive as well. Will definitely be back!

Lockhart's BBQ (9/2/2010 1:59 AM) - A lot of people have been asking why we put a piece of white bread on our BBQ Plates. It is a Texas tradition. All plates are served with pickles, onions and a slice of white bread. This is for two reasons:

Andy Lintner (8/30/2010 8:09 PM) - Just had an awesome dinner. The pulled pork was perfect, the beer was great, and Stephanie J took good care of us. My only suggestion would be to press out the slaw a bit before putting it on the sandwich -- the bun was falling apart in my hand (a texas toast bun would be great too). Other than that, everything was wonderful. Glad to have some good BBQ in Royal Oak!

Paul Mackiewicz (8/29/2010 8:32 PM) - We had lunch there on Saturday, the burnt ends, pulled pork, and sides were awesome...... but the pork ribs seemed a bit rushed and the Brisket was a bit dry. Overall a great opening weekend! We will be back!

The pulled pork and sausage were excellent, but the brisket and beef ribs were too dry. The sides were very tasty and the service was unusually good, especially for a grand opening. Definitely willing to come back and try it again.

Adam Thayer (8/28/2010 11:13 PM) - Great patio, great food, great beer. C'mon, the Poet on tap?? What's better than that? And I didn't have to wait 2 hours for a table like I have every time I've been to Slows. I also didn't have to worry about my car while I was there and could walk around town after dinner. If people really enjoy Slows that much better, have at it. But I'd bet they couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste test. I've had dried out ribs and fatty brisket at Slows, but they were the best we had. Now we've got another great BBQ option.

Lockhart's BBQ (8/28/2010 10:32 AM) - Our goal is to be the best BBQ in Michigan! No gas-gas fired, electric-cooking, boiled-and-grilled imitations! Just great meat smoked slow over oak and hickory. Can't find it anywhere else in MI! Come and get it.

The service was very friendly - but the most important part - the 'Q was awesome! The pulled pork brought me back to Memphis. My boy (18-months) devoured bites of burnt ends, pulled pork, and brisket.
